Abstract: Introduction: Cervical cancer knowledge and preventive practices among female nurses have not been thoroughly assessed. Objective: This study aimed to assess knowledge, preventive practice, and associated factors of cervical cancer among female nurses working in West Amhara referral hospitals, Ethiopia. Methods: From March 1-31, 2021, an institution-based cross-sectional study was carried out. The data was collected using a pretested structured self-administered questionnaire on 412 female nurses working in West Amhara Referral Hospitals. The data were entered using Epi Info version 7.1 and then exported to SPSS version 23 for analysis. We ran descriptive and logistic regression analyses. Factors with a p-value < 0.05 were considered as predictors of the outcome. Results: Of 412 proposed female nurses, 392 of them participated which gives a response rate of 95.1%. Although 211 (53.8%) of respondents were knowledgeable about cervical cancer, only 83 (21.2%) of them have cervical cancer preventive practice. Having a family history of cervical cancer (AOR: 3.383, 95% CI: 1.144-10.003) and working in intensive care units (AOR: 0.308, 95% CI: 0.119-0.794) were significantly associated with knowledge of cervical cancer. Being diploma holders (AOR: 2.136, 95% CI: 1.132-4.030), ever being diagnosed with cervical cancer (AOR: 3.265, 95% CI: 1.290-8.266) and taking care of a patient with cervical cancer (AOR: 3.006, 95% CI: 1.639-5.514) were significantly associated with the preventive practice of cervical cancer. Conclusion: Although half of the female nurses were knowledgeable about cervical cancer, their preventative practices were very low. The government should organize periodic seminars and training to improve their knowledge and preventive skills on cervical cancer. Further study should be conducted at the community and national levels to target all females.

Abstract: Objective: To verify the effect of stroke case management on the self-management of risk factors and the rehabilitation of patients with Acute Ischemic Stroke (AIS). Method: We conducted a 6-week prospective, non-randomized controlled open-label trial. Patients were screened and allocated to the nurse-led case manager or primary nurses. Risk factors and recovery indicators were measured 4 weeks after the patient was discharged. Results: Patients in the nurse-led case management group were more likely to be aware of risk factors (χ2 = 21.048, P < 0.001) compared with patients undergoing usual care. And had a greater reduction in the proportion of various bad behavior styles (P < 0.001). Patients in the prevention group were more likely to gain better muscle strength of the injured limb (upper limb t = 4.048, P < 0.001); lower limb t = 83.279, P < 0.001) than those in the control group. Overall mean (SD) of modified BI index score for the intervention group compared with control group hospitals was 96.05 vs 76.84. (P < 0.001). The rates of modified Rankin Scale (MRS) score ≤ 2 were 68.9% in the intervention group and 35.1% in the control group (χ2 = 12.682, P < 0.001). Conclusion: A nurse-led case-management for patients with AIS is feasible and may help improve long-term control of significant patient risk factors for stroke.

Abstract: Background A highly contagious illness called COVID-19 mostly affects people’s respiratory systems and vaccines are the most cost-effective technique for controlling infectious diseases. Aim: The study aimed to assess the knowledge and attitude regarding the importance of the COVID-19 third-dose vaccine among preparatory year students at King Abdelaziz University. Subjects and Methods: Quantitative cross-sectional descriptive design was used. Data was collected virtually by using the Google online form questionnaire. Non-probability, purposive sampling technique was used from 293 KAU students. Results: In total, 293 studied sample participants were in this research. Out of the total, 70% (n=205) were female and 30% (n=88) were male. The findings revealed that 52.2% of students reported moderately agreeing regarding their knowledge of the importance of the COVID-19 Vaccine. Also, the results showed that the overall responses of students were agreeing regarding their attitude toward the third dose of the COVID-19 Vaccine with mean = of 2.58 as reported. In conclusion, there is a statistically significant difference between socio-demographic characteristics (gender) with students' attitudes and knowledge regarding the COVID-19 third dose at (p-value= 0.03). The findings recommend applying prevention strategies for preparatory year students in a university. To improve student knowledge about booster doses, instructional activities and videos should be produced and delivered during the orientation day.
